Are these towels pre-washed? Will they shrink?
Yes — every towel is pre-washed and pre-shrunk before it ships. The size you see is the finished, washed size. No need to pre-wash before use or before decorating, though a quick wash before embroidery helps open up the fibers and stabilize the surface.
What's the difference between white (bleached) and natural (unbleached)?
White towels are bleached to a bright pure white — the best surface for printing and embroidery because colors pop against it. Natural towels keep the cotton's original off-white/cream tone with no bleaching agents, and are popular for farmhouse aesthetics, eco-conscious buyers, and food applications like bread proofing or cheese-making where chemical-free fabric is preferred. Both are 100% cotton and identical in construction.
Are these good for embroidery?
These are among the most popular embroidery blanks available. The 130 thread count diagonal weave is tight and stable — it hoops flat without puckering, holds thread color beautifully, and doesn't distort under tension. No stabilizer is required for most designs, though cutaway stabilizer is recommended for dense fills.
Can I use these for sublimation printing?
Sublimation bonds with polyester, not cotton, so it won't transfer directly onto these 100% cotton towels. However, many decorators apply a polyester coating spray (Subli-Glaze or similar) before pressing, which creates a receptive surface on cotton. Results are good but slightly less vibrant than true polyester. For the sharpest full-color prints on cotton, DTG or edge-to-edge printing are better options.
Do the colored towels fade in the wash?
No — all colored towels are fast colors, meaning the dye is permanently set into the cotton fiber. They will not fade with normal washing. Wash in cold or warm water, avoid bleach, and avoid high heat drying. Washed correctly, the colors hold over hundreds of wash cycles.
Are these lint-free?
Yes — the diagonal weave holds fibers tightly so they don't shed. These towels are lint-free, which is why they're prized for polishing glassware, drying dishes streak-free, and dusting. Unlike terry cloth or waffle-weave alternatives, they leave no residue on surfaces or lenses.
